Week 6: Video online Library Lovers!

Week 5: exploring wikis

Had a look at some wikis recommended viewing. St Joseph's County Public Library's subject guides looks like it could be really useful. Our library has Book lists produced in brochure form. It would be great to put them on a wiki as a way of constantly updating. It wouldn't then be dependent on one person to do all the work. (we have our favourite genres within the staff so would make sense to use each one's experience)

Another way I thought wikis could work is to set up a wiki for short term projects. Most of our staff are part-timers and would rarely get to see each other. Like the Youtube video said - reading through everyone's comment by email can get tedious. If the basic project outline is there, people can add their comments, indicate tasks completed and set up links to other important information which is part of the project.

I could get to like wiking!

Week 4 RSS or get your interests sent to you!

Have more success setting up subscriptions using RSS aggregator Bloglines than linking with flickr. It seems the various aggregators have different methods for feed lines. (like all the jargon I'm using?) I would have preferred learning google reader as it was the example given in the Youtube introduction. Have yet to see if the subscriptions I have will send me their latest news. I think Library Bytes has the potential to be a really useful site. So would like to keep hearing from there. Am now going to practise linking one of my sites and show you one of my interests. Cross Fingers.

Week 3 Flickr

Am struggling to work out how to create a link for the exercise we were given on commenting on an interesting picture. I wanted to link a picture of a playful cat which looks just like mine. If anyone can give me hints on how to add links I will be greatful.

Learning to blog but have questions

Am at the end of week two (again) and have a question for anyone out there! How do I search for other blog sites?

Name change to blog

This blog was formerly known as "So I think I can blog". I have changed it to the current title to more correctly represent what this blog is about. Hope to see some input from fellow library lovers.
